Florence Rickards was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A troubled and impoverished childhood, led to teen pregnancy, welfare and abusive relationships. It is from this less than inspiring background that Florence built the foundation for transformation. She never stopped believing in the dream for a better life for her son and herself. Determined to be more than a survivor, Florence became a LIGHTHOUSE, a light in the dark, lighting the way for others to have hope and realize their dreams. Today she is passionate about sharing her experience, strength and hope with others so that they too can let their light shine.

Her journey has taken her down some bumpy paths, from societal outcast, welfare mom, and failed business owner to a dynamic, energetic, speaker, facilitator, author and Personal and Business Coach. Florence has been a guest on numerous TV and radio programs and her work has been featured in a number of publications such as the Human Resources Management’s People Talk magazine, NETWERCC News and others. FINDING YOUR DHARMA…YOUR PASSION…YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE is featured in the book LIVING AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE. Florence’s most recent publication is a CD entitled IGNITE YOUR PASSION! REALIZE YOUR DREAMS!1 She has over twenty years of experience assisting individuals & organizations in achieving their maximum potential, finding their passion and realizing their dreams. She is currently the owner of LIGHTHOUSE Coaching & Consulting, an organization dedicated to inspiring, encouraging, and supporting others to realize their passion and live their dreams. Her experience includes being the President of ACHIEVE Consulting Incorporated, an organization that provided services in Vocational Rehabilitation, Training and Development, Human Resources, and Organizational Development, and the President and owner of a Private Training Institute, called Success Unlimited. She has also worked in large and small organizations in both the public and private sector in a variety of capacities including: Executive Director, Human Resources Generalist, Personnel Manager, Director of Employee Support and Development, Director of Business Development, and as an Instructor for a variety of Public and Private Colleges and Universities.

In addition to completing her Masters Degree in Business Administration at Simon Fraser University, Florence is also a Certified Human Resources Professional, a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor, and a Registered Social Worker. She is also a Professional Co-Active Coach, having received her training from the highly recognized Coaches Training Institute. In addition, Florence was the first faculty hired by the first Canadian campus of the University of Phoenix and teaches in both the Bachelor and Master of Business Programs and has taught over 25 different courses. She received the Sperling Award of Teaching Excellence in 1999. Florence is also a highly sought after speaker and has presented at literally hundreds of local and International Conferences.

Florence’s volunteer experience includes being an editor and writer for the B.C. Human Resource Management Association’s People Talk Magazine. In 2000 she was awarded her own Small Business Solutions column. Florence was also the President of the Canadian Mental Health Association - Simon Fraser Branch, Director of NETWERCC (Networking, Education and Training for Workers in Employment, Rehabilitation, Career Counselling), Co-Chair of the B.C. Human Resources Management Association - Training and Development Roundtable, and Vice President of the Labor Market and Career Information Association of British Columbia.

Florence’s passion is facilitating, guiding, motivating, inspiring and energizing people and organizations on their journey to success and fulfillment. Florence has synthesized the best from psychology, human development, business, communications, mentoring, counselling, spirituality and coaching, to help individuals and organizations find and live their passion!
